HeLPHOS Checklist

While the WHO defined checklist has proved to be of great help in avoiding adverse effects in surgical procedures, the fact that it is paper based system makes it difficult to exploit the data thus obtained.

Therefore, in Treelogic we have computerized the checklist and as a result, it has become a very useful tool which is very easy to use. The solution, designed under the name HeLPHOS Checklist, is based on the use of database and statistical tools. The checklist is also integrated with the hospital information system and from which it may receive patient and process data, and then send the checklist results for filing along with the patient's electronic clinical case notes or with the balanced scorecard.

The tool has a control panel from which you can configure each of the stages and items on the list, and it can be adapted to the particular requirements of each hospital.

The computerized checklist prevents items used during the surgery not being accounted for by some kind of error or oversight.

Thanks to technology, the application can automatically record data about who makes the verification and when, as well as automatically logging surgical process times, which is of great value in the optimization of the use of surgical block.

With the data recorded from each of the processes, statistics are collated to help prevent errors or to optimize quality policies and it can be integrated with those quality systems implemented in the hospital for such purpose. The information recorded can be used with great flexibility so it becomes a tool of great support to the balanced scorecard.
